The Halloway guide

A watch case to store, protect and present

A watch spends half its life off the wrist. Loose in a drawer, it can rub against neighbouring watches. Left unprotected, it gathers dust. A box solves both problems without a mechanism or power supply.

Unlike a winder, a box suitable for all watches: automatic, quartz, manual winding. This is the safe choice when the collection is mixed, or when the pieces are not worn often enough to justify an motor.

Our boxes

Kensington Line. Carbon-look covering, orange stitching, silver-toned clasp. Kensington 6 holds six watches in one row; Kensington 10 holds ten in two rows of five. See the Kensington line.

Clarendon Line. Matt black exterior, cognac interior, gold-toned clasp and hinges. The contrast highlights steel cases and light-coloured dials: Clarendon 6 in one row, Clarendon 10 in two. See Clarendon line.

Wood finishes. Chelsea 6 combines a varnished brown wood finish with a camel interior. Chester 5 presents five watches on a neutral grey interior, with a gold mechanical medallion in front. Windsor 8 holds eight watches in a glossy red wood finish with a gold-toned interior. See our wood-finish watch boxes.

Six or ten places

A unique row of six watches keeps all dials at the same height and fits into a deep drawer. Two rows of five almost double the capacity for a near width, at the price of a greater depth. Count your watches, add two, and choose the format that leaves some margin.

To take your watches on a trip rather than store them on a permanent basis, see our Watch cases.

A glass lid, and what this implies

All our boxes have glass lids. The collection stays visible without opening, making them pieces for a console table or desk rather than a wardrobe.

The glazing lets the light pass, which slowly yellows the light dials and hardens the leather straps. Put the box away from the direct sun: two meters from a window, back to the light, the problem does not arise.

The cushions

Our boxes use independent, removable cushions. Remove one to accommodate a thicker watch case, or rearrange the layout as your collection evolves.

A often neglected point: never force a bracelet on a cushion too wide. On a leather, the deformation becomes permanent in a few months.

Where to install

Avoid the window edge, the bathroom and the radiator top. Prefer a flat and stable surface, at hand height, in a dry room. Our article where to place your watch box details the four criteria.

A box is not a safe

A clasp is a convenient closure, not protection against theft. If your collection's value warrants it, choose an anchored safe and suitable insurance.
